Leave a Trace

By Mo Mydlo

Our family just spent a week together in South Carolina. Tommy Mydlo, Eli Mydlo and I went hiking at Congaree National Park. God’s artistry never ceases to amaze me. It was like walking in a majestic fairy tale.

Something stuck out to us when we read this sign about respecting the wilderness you are walking in. It said “Please practice Leave No Trace principles. Respect Wildlife, leave only footprints, and be considerate of other visitors”. I absolutely love that concept when talking about the environment. But, when it comes to the Kingdom of God, we should leave a trace everywhere we go. Our fingerprints and footprints for Jesus should be evident everywhere we trod.

After spending a week in the same home again with my kids and their spouses and their kids, my heart is overjoyed with gratefulness for being able to leave a trace here on Earth when I leave to go to Glory. I’m thankful for legacy. I’m thankful for the awesome responsibility of serving God and others and not myself until I take my last breath. I’m grateful for the honor to be a wife, mother, Mimi and disciple of Jesus. I’m thankful to leave a trace.
